Free at last. Free at last.

Well looks like I will be officially graduating from BYU this Friday!! I'm excited to finally move on from this chapter in my life and start making some money. I updated my resume and got it ranked a 9 out of 10 by Kennedi, compared to my old resume, which was 7 out of 10. I consider that a big upgrade. Hopefully, this education and time will be beneficial and I'll find a job that works well with me and I work well with it in the upcoming months. Trying to find a job in this unpredictable economy is less than ideal but it will have to do. Just more hardwork that builds character, right?

I have officially removed all remnants of carpet and interior in my Porsche this last week also. It seems to be coming together nicely and I can't wait to get it on the track once some money starts coming in. As much as I hate to say it though, the Porsche community seems to be very lacking and just down right ignorant to the cars they drive. Trying to find out information from a LARGE population of these people is harder than trying to get an aethest to believe in God. They lack so much knowledge that I have thought numerous times about abandoning the project and just going with Spec Miata. I'm sure Kennedi would love me to just abandon racing all together given the cost. Moving on!

My sleep strategy seemed to working well earlier this week, I went to bed by 1AM three nights in a row but had to take a full Ambien to do it. I hate taking these as I know they can be very addictive so I stopped taking them by Wednesday. So what happened? I started going back to sleep at a ridiculously late time and I am back to where I started. Full of fail, I know.

I thought that maybe getting some exercise would help me fall asleep faster and feel more tired but that doesn't seem to be the case either. Kennedi and I have been going on long walks every night after she gets home from sleep (4-8 miles) and trying to keep a very respectable pace and that didn't help. Maybe a labotomy is in order to get my mind to shut up when I want to go to sleep?

Oh the joys of work

What a fabulous day to work at Best Buy. I went into work at 3:15 (weird time to be schedule but ok) and found out that Best Buy is changing their employee discount. As most know, Best Buy gives their employees a pretty great discount of cost + 5%. Which equates to some ridiculous savings on things like cables, hdmi, etc. They decided to change it to a maximum of 50% off by August 1st. So what did everyone that works at Best Buy do today? Purchase just about everything that is more than 50% currently lol.

I personally decided to purchase quite a bit. I ended up with $2,000 worth of best buy products for $340. This included all the tax. Ridiculous? Yes. Awesome? Of course.

Also today I found out that Best Buy is getting rid of all of its 1 day a week employees like myself if they do not increase their availability. I had to sign a form today saying I would be available for 4 days a week. This new policy affects more than 50% of its employees and from the morale on the sales floor, it seems like there are quite a few disgruntled employees. I don't work enough and don't have anything else going on right now to really care, but I can understand why.

Hopefully I will be able to find a job sooner than later so I don't have to actually work there 4 days a week lol.

Cars cars and more cars. . .

Oh the joy of working on cars. Today, I helped my buddy Robby work on his Mazda3 that had such warped rotors that it felt like Michael J. Fox was driving the car. Terrible. I know. Anyway, as we tore into his car at 8:45PM, just enough time to work on the car in the dark, I found yet another fun example of car makers trying to reinvent the wheel when it comes to brake pads. Let's just say that it was a fun 15 mins trying to get the brake pad into the caliper, stupid Mazda.

Oh well, we got the other side done with a snap and he was off and away that wasn't a danger to society anymore, well except for the part where him and his girlfriend are just awful drivers.

Before today, I helped my buddy Greg work on his Porsche 944 to help him get his car ready for a Spec944 event in September. I would love to make that event also but unfortunately not having an income puts a big "shanana said no" to finishing up mine by then. Anyone want to sponsor my car? Only 5 grand more to go lol.

Off Day

Well last night was complete failure and today has just been awful. Didn't go to sleep like I wanted to due to trying out a different bed last night. Was a tad depressed and ornery because of it, so I apologize to my little sister, Kiersten, if I was being a jerk.

I also had the lucky privelage of being denied for two more jobs that I applied for, so that was fun. I went to the school to talk to a counselor and of course they told me that no one was availalbe at the Wilk, so I tried the Tanner building. They are suppose to close at 5PM but I guess they wanted to leave early and they weren't there at 4:40. I'll have to try my luck tomorrow. The Wilk career center did tell me that the finance director isn't available during summer. I feel like I am being pushed into a corner and all the doors I try to walk through are being shut in my face.

Here is tomorrow/today and hoping that maybe some better things will come of it. I am really trying to listen to Kennedi's advice about making your own luck if you aren't lucky. I constantly see others around me that seem to get what they go after, but they never seem to be doing anything special to get them. Maybe I am missing something? I just gotta keep pushing on and work harder to get what I want I guess.

See ya next time.

Nemesis

Falling asleep is something that I have never been good at. Plain and simple, I will lay in bed for 30 mins to 1.5 hours and toss and turn thinking about life, pending apocolypse and the like. I have decided that I am going to try and get my sleep pattern back in line with the rest of the world. Currently, I have been falling asleep at 6AM, yes AM, for the last week or so. I am going to start going to bed an hour earlier everynight until I am able to consistently fall asleep before midnight.

I assume it will be harder than I make it sound in my head, which is why I bring in my best friend, Ambien! I will take .5mg a night to help me fall asleep fast and to stay on track. It is best to take it 20-30 mins before you want to fall asleep, so I will take them at the 30 mark.

Wish me luck!!

Confused

Well, for some dumb reason I have felt the need to start updating a blog that I probably haven't even looked at in over 2 years, let alone anyone else! Since I seem to have a lot more time on my hands now than I have in the past I figure the least I can do is put my thoughts and activities to those that are interested.

More than likely I'll be posting about working on the Porsche 944 that seems to be coming along nicely and about my frustration with trying to find a job and what direction I really want to go with some type of career. Whether it will be trying the MACdonalds franchise avenue or even going back to get an engineering degree or trying out finance.

I guess I will see this as more of a personal journal now that I think about it at 4:20 in the morning and less of updating, since I don't really do a lot of posting on Facebook and don't really want people seeing that anyway. Hopefully, I will spend more time updating this and I should have pictures to come!!

Skydiving

So this is me rocking out for the 1st time skydiving!! I was suppose to get pics also, but my camera guy had an issue with his memory card and it would have taken 2-3 months to get the pics back, so I opted for the refund and got just the video. It was a total blast and I cant describe the crazy that is standing on the edge of that door lol. I recommend every one of you try it out!! lol
